After a long break due to the pandemic, Aoteya Rakugo Club will reopen its door soon!
There is a little complications regarding our venue, but as soon as it’s confirmed we will get right back to our activities.
If you are planning to join the club, please read the following and contact me asap (by Friday 31 July 2022 at the very latest) as I need to apply for funding.
In the spirit of rakugo, I will keep running this group free of charge, but in order to do this I will need to secure funding from various organisations.
From next year, I am planning to change our format a little and organise 2 student performances at a theatre in Onehunga (100 seater). As usual, our workshops will be held twice a month on Saturdays.
As running rakugo club is voluntary work for me, I would like to know how many people would be interested in getting actively involved to make my effort worthwhile.
By “getting actively involved”, I mean:
- Being committed to learn/ prepare your rakugo stories and showing up to performances (Yes, this is common sense for performers, but new performers don’t always honour this, unfortunately…)
- Promoting the club to make the most of funding (so we will not lose funding from 2024 onward!)
So if you are willing to uphold these two very basic things, contact me… yep… ASAP!!!
As I still get asked all the time, I repeat! ALL the sessions and performances are conducted in English. NO knowledge of the Japanese language is required 😁
